The Cyprus problem was among the regional security priority issues discussed between the Prime Ministers of Russia and Turkey, according to statements made by Recep Tayip Erdogan.

During their joint press conference, Vladimir Putin made no relevant reference. The Prime Ministers met at the Russian resort Sotsi on the Black Sea.

Putin said that they exchanged views regarding issues of regional and international agenda, noting that their positions are often similar or they coincide to a large degree.

He noted also that bilateral exchanges have increased by 50% in 2008 and Russia is now the biggest commercial partner of Turkey. Talks on a second distribution pipeline of the “Blue Stream” will start soon, he added.

Erdogan invited Putin to visit Turkey and said that a Russian company has won the tender for the construction of four electricity power stations.
