Foreign Minister Markos Kyprianou has allegedly announced his plans to resign from office in light of last week’s catastrophic explosion at the Evangelos Florakis naval base in Mari.
The announcement was made at this morning’s House Defence Committee meeting.
The information was reported by the Cyprus News Agency (CNA). No immediate confirmation was available.
According to CNA Kyprianou told the committee meeting he would ask President Demetris Christofias to relieve him of his duties for reasons of “political sensitivity”.
