The Investment Funds sector has shown steady growth in recent years. Cyprus is constantly progressing in this space, attracting more and more international investors. The recent announcements of GMF and MUFG to establish a business base in Cyprus testify to the industry’s progress.

As a keynote speaker, Mr. Charlie Jolly, Partner and Head of Private Equity, RSM UK, on the “Leader’s Stage”, highlighted a number of key facts for Private Equity Funds in today’s challenging environment. Furthermore, he analysed how uncertainty affects the sector and the readjustment that takes place through the redistribution of funds. Also, he mentioned the opportunities to be exploited in the sector.
Moreover, in his final remarks, he stated, “I believe that Private Equity adapts very quickly to changing economic environments. I think although we are facing very strong headwinds high, quality Private equity firms will continue to outperform markets and deliver strongly for their investors”.
Afterwards, Marios Charalambides, Partner and Head of Financial Services at RSM Cyprus, in his introductory presentation for the opening of the “Operations/Regulation/Administration Stage”, highlighted the importance of understanding the investors’ needs from the various market stakeholders, which leads to proper planning and structuring of investment funds. Additionally, he explained the significance of the legislative framework and the need for a functional governance and transparency policy to support and protect the activities of the investment funds to protect the investors.
At the same time, the attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and listen to the opinions of acknowledged speakers and panel guests from organisations providing related activities, supervisory authorities and European institutions.
