In the context of an official visit paid by Minister of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Yiorgos Lakkotrypis, to Oman, the Sultanate’s Minister of Oil and Gas has confirmed that the Arab nation is interested in investing in Cyprus, particularly in the fields of research and exploitation of natural gas.
Lakkotrypis held a series of meetings in Oman with his counterpart, Mohammed bin Hamad bin Seif Al Rumhi, as well as the Minister of Tourism, Ahmed bin Nasser bin Hamad al Mehrizi and the Minster of Commerce and Industry, Ali bin Masoud bin Ali Al Sunaidy.
During his meeting with the Minister of Oil and Gas, the latest developments regarding Cyprus’ Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) were discussed, as well as the different means of cooperation between the two states in the field of Renewable Energy Sources and natural gas, the Cyprus News Agency reports.
The Minister of Oil and Gas confirmed that Oman is interested in investing in the area of research and exploitation of natural gas and asked for Cyprus’ help in the field of Renewable Energy Sources.
During his other meetings, Lakkotrypis discussed issues relating to the upgrading of the two countries’ bilateral relations in the fields of tourism and commerce.
His meetings fall within the framework of the preparations ahead of President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades’ visit to Oman.
